Unfoldtool

This SketchUp script assists the user in flattening, or unfolding, 3d objects onto a 2d plane.

Installation (same for all plugins)
  1. Download unfoldtool.
  2. Move the file into your SketchUp/Plugins folder.
  3. Restart SketchUp.
The script creates an item Unfold Tool in the Plugins menu.

Usage
  • Select the Unfold Tool from the Plugins menu, start selecting faces to unfold. The selected face is unfolded to match next selection.
  • Hold the Control key to reverse operation - rotate the subsequent face to match the already selected face(s).
  • Alt-click on a face to select all the faces in the same plane.
  • Shift-click to toggle selection of faces.
  • Click off the model to reset the selection.

Wood expansion calculator

Calculates the expansion of wood parts, depending on temperature, humidity, length, etc. Results are displayed in a web dialog. Supports all units.

Create image (rotate)

Takes regularly spaced snapshots and saves the images in the folder where the SKP file resides. Each group can have its own rotations.

3D PDF

The 3D PDF plugin created by SimLab Soft is an amazing plugin to bring the interactivity of SketchUp to the PDF platform. Meaning that now it is easy to present your work with the features of 3D on an easy to view PDF document. A feature missing in Google’s Layout for SketchUp.
The plugin allows you to export your model as a PDF and even allows you to adjust settings such as the background, lighting, passwords and much more. The plugin is extremely easy to use and very useful to present your models. Though a drawback in uploading a complicated model is that it can freeze up computers using browsers. These type of files are best viewed off of the computer using Acrobat and not inside a browser. Also some of the features that I expected to be incorporated into this plugin were not there. A big feature I expected was a walk through animation capability, the plugin does not allow for a user controlled walk through. Rather it only allows you to import scenes in which the user can control which scene they wish to go to.
Overall, the 3D PDF plugin created by SimLab Soft is a very useful plugin, hopefully future versions will come with more options to enhance the user’s experience. At the time of this review this plugin costs $95 per license (though they do offer a trial version) and is available at SimLab-Soft.com

The Windowizer plugin (version 3) created by Rick Wilson on Smustard.com is a simple tool to create windows for your SketchUp model. It gives you many options such as trim colors, glass styles and arrangements.
Using the plugin is simple but not really that intuitive. You need to make sure that you select a single face and know that the face will become the window area. Once you select the face then right click (on windows) and select the Windowizer tool. Then you have a set of options to select from, allowing you to set the amount of rows and columns, frame and mullion sizes, insets, and glass and frame colors/textures. Note that if you cannot see the drop out menu, then your face needs to be exploded further. The tool is very simple and works well. Though it would be helpful if there was a toolbar also available for it.
Overall, the Windowizer plugin (version 3) created by Rick Wilson is a simple but yet effective tool to create windows, especially store front ones. At the time of this review this plugin is free and is available at Smustard.com.

Cubic Pano Out plugin

The Cubic Pano Out plugin created by John Wehby with Smustard.com is a simple plugin to create cubic panoramas with a click of the button. It is a great plugin to create the 3D full visual effect. But you do need another program to bring the images together into a full interactive image. GoCubic is a free solution that does just that. It can be downloaded at Cad-Addict.com.
Note that when using the plugins that the sun shadow should be considered. Sometimes the shadow changes the images and they do not fit together perfectly. And it can be tough at times to indicate the point at which the center will be placed. The plugin works well though it only creates images with the render quality that SketchUp offers. But, the plugin does created scenes for each of the images (if you choose true on this option) so you can go back and render the scenes with your favorite renderer and create amazing photorealistic cubic panoramas. But it is quite difficult to match the rendered scenes up, you need to make sure that the resolution is the same and that your renderer doesn’t distort the scene up even more. You may need to play with the images in photoshop to get this looking right.
Overall, the Cubic Pano Out plugin created by John Wehby is a great solution to create amazing 3D panoramas. At the time of this review this plugin is free and is available at Smustard.com

The Bomb Google Plugin

The Bomb Google Plugin by Rick Wilson with Smustard.com is a utility to explode all components and groups in your model. It works really well to explode everything in your model. Though, using SketchUp version 7.1, I did have an issue when it came to very large files. This plugin tends to freeze Google SketchUp when using it on large complicated files.
This plugin really works the best when applied to components brought in from the Google Warehouse or if you need to use a complicated model as a part of another model. But in order for it to work correctly you would have to create a new file to import the warehouse component or model, then you can explode the entire model with one click and then import it into your original file. This, to me, poses the one flaw of this plugin. The plugin would work much better if there were extra options associated with it. Instead of exploding the entire model, it would help to be able to only explode selected items or items on certain layers.
Overall, the Bomb Google Plugin explodes all components and groups seamlessly and is a must to have while working with SketchUp, but be aware! ALWAYS save your model before using it. At the time of this review the Bomb plugin on Smustard.com is free.

The Door Tools plugin
The Door Tools plugin created by Tomot on Ruby Library Depot is a great set of tools to create custom doors. These tools allows you to create doors, frames and trims with different styles.
Each of these tools in this set works by using the 3 click process, click the top two corners and then specify the height of the door to the floor on the last click. In order to create a door you do need to have the door opening already cutout onto the wall. The plugin comes with the ability to make mullion and louver doors. You also have the ability to create right or left hand doors. The plugin in addition creates the door path on the floor (usually found on floorplans) making it easy to see the path of the door. Finally it also creates the doors on separate layers making it easy to find or hide them. This plugin could be improved if there was an option to create multiple panel doors and allowing a bevel option for the trims.
Overall, The Door Tools plugin created by Tomot is a very useful plugin for those working on homes and home designs. At the time of this review this plugin is free and is available at The Ruby Library Depot.
